Douglas Green Chenin Blanc 2015

Ideal candidate for a wedding
What do you expect when you open a bottle of wine priced at $10 – $12? To not make a grimace at each swallow; to not find a sweet product, with low acidity and copious amounts of wood; to have pleasure and satisfaction, but not really hope that the wine will stir great emotions. A “little wine” will still be a little wine, even if you age it in your cellar, even if you aerate it in a carafe, even if you serve it at the correct temperature… So, when you pay a dozen dollars for a bottle, above all you must not expect to genuflect when you taste it. In our market, in this price range, numerous products lack character, personality and soul. But not this young South African Chenin!

Although it is certainly not the most expressive white wine on the aromatic plane, there is nothing awry and it is completely honest as a glass. Fine and delicate aromas of green apple, pine gum, eau de cologne, clover honey and maple syrup interlace in the glass. On the finish, notes of white flowers are released. It is dry (not sweet), straightforward, far from being complex, but not complicated either. Do you have a wedding on the horizon? This is the ideal candidate to wisely “hydrate” numerous throats at a good price.
