I have written often about Douglas Green, a young Stellenbosch University graduate in Viticulture and Technology, who started his own wine company in Paarl in 1942.
He had a set of ethics to which he was to abide, and the company today still follows. He wanted wines, which showed their grape variety, which expressed the vintage and which he sold to his customers at even-handed prices. He even delivered them in his old green truck which features on the Douglas Green wine labels.
