AFTERTASTE: The taste that lingers in the mouth after swallowing the wine
BLANC DE NOIR: A light pink wine made from red grapes literally 'white from red'
BLEND: A wine made from two or more different grape varieties
BOUQUET: The aroma of the wines (e.g.: fruity, floral)
BRUT: Very Dry Refers to Champagne and Sparkling Wine
CHAMPAGNE: A sparkling wine made in Champagne, France using the traditional Method
CULTIVAR: A grape Variety or type of grape (e.g.: Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon)
DEMI SEC: Off Dry Refers to Champagne and Sparkling Wine
DOUX: Sweet Refers to Champagne and Sparkling Wine
DRY: A wine with less than 4g of sugar per litre
MCC: Method Cap Classique Sparkling Wine Made in the traditional way
NOSE: The aroma or Bouquet of the wine (e.g.: Floral Nose)
NV: Non Vintage No year or vintage stated
OFF DRY: Wine with a sugar content of between 4g and 12g per litre
PERLE: Slightly sparkling Carbonated wine
ROSE: A pink wine made from red grapes or a Blend of red & white wine
SEMI SWEET: Wine with a sugar content of between 12g and 30g per litre
SPARKLING WINE: Any wine with bubbles made in a variety of different methods around the world
STEIN: A semi-sweet style of wine Usually a blend
VERITAS: Prestigious Annual Wine Awards in South Africa where wines are awarded medals (e.g.: Double Gold, Gold, Silver, Bronze)
VINTAGE: The year in which the grapes were harvested All grapes come from a year stipulated
WOODED: A wine that has been matured in wooden barrels
