All your questions... AnsweredQ: WHO IS
DOUGLAS GREEN? A: Douglas Green of Paarl is recognised as
South Africa's first true wine negociant, a business model he had
come across while studying and working in the wine industry in
France. Instead of the traditional philosophy of regionality,
Douglas Green somewhat unconventionally began sourcing grapes from
far and wide throughout the Cape winelands. This approach afforded
him the flexibility to develop distinctive styles. Before long,
Douglas Green had established a solid reputation for the great
quality and value of his distinctive signature style
wines.
Q: WHERE IS DOUGLAS GREEN? A: Should you
seek the home of Douglas Green in the Cape, it is not a farm you
will find. Being a true negociant wine producer, we source grapes
from vineyards across the Cape winelands and our wine is made in six
appointed cellars. The production headquarters of brand owners DGB
(Pty) Ltd are situated in Wellington. It is here that Douglas Green
wines are bottled and distributed to the local and international
market.
Q: CAN I VISIT DOUGLAS GREEN? A: The
recently completed VIP visitor centre at Douglas Green's production
headquarters in Wellington is not yet equipped to welcome public
visitors. Visits for trade and press are by invitation or
appointment. In the continuation of our investment and upgrade
we plan to welcome visitors in the near future.
Q: WHO
OWNS DOUGLAS GREEN? A: Douglas Green is owned by DGB (Pty)
Ltd, one of South Africa's largest independent wine producers and
distributors.
Q: WHERE ARE DOUGLAS GREEN WINES
SOLD? A: Douglas Green wines are sold in hotels, restaurants,
supermarkets and liquor retail outlets in more than 50 countries
internationally. Please see our International Agent Network for a
full list of countries where Douglas Green wines are represented or
contact us for further information.
Q: HOW LONG DO DOUGLAS
GREEN WINES LAST? A: Douglas Green's signature style is bold,
fruity and deliciously drinkable straight off the shelf. Our white
wines are best enjoyed in the freshness of youth. Our red wines are
smooth and juicy with friendly tannins allowing early accessibility
yet with a typical structure to develop interesting complexity for
between three and five years.
