Snoek and sauvignon – could there be a better summer pairing?
In South Africa, ’tis the season to braai and if you find yourself near the ocean, slapping a fish over the coals is a no-brainer. While any fish can be grilled, snoek is a firm South African favourite. It’s also abundantly available (green thumbs up for sustainable fishing from WWF/SASSI) and has a distinctive taste that lends itself to being smoked. And then, of course, you’ll need a wine to match!
Our recommendation is our Douglas Green Sauvignon Blanc. Thanks to its effortlessly dry palate and well-balanced acidity, this wine is perfect with simple, lightly cooked seafood such as this apricot-glazed snoek. Ideal to impress friends but not work too hard!
